Professional Practice 2 QSB 3614

Lecturer:
Mr. Eddie Lim

Overview of module:
Chapters in Professional Practice 2 have outlined the professional and contractual ways to deal with the issues arrising due to contractual effects. For example, EOT, interim payment, setting off, determination and so on. In total, we have one seminar, one group assignment, one mid term test and final exam.

What I have gained from this module:

 Discipline Specific Knowledge

The knowledge that I have gained from classroom is able to be transformed into my answers for the assignment. We were given a group assignment whereby we were required to act as consultant QS and advice client on the matter arise, ie: variation order. Hence, it is important for us to understand fully on the theories and applied it to the assignment.

 Lifelong Learning

This module required students to be  more independent and able to extract the information get from the internet effectively. To complete this assignment, we are required to do our own research and to identify the answer based on our analysis.

Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
The group assignment given was not on the direct type. Hence we are required to brainstorm in a group and think critically in order to find out the solution.

Interpersonal skills
In this module, one of our assignment is called seminar, where all of us were grouped in a three. The purpose of having this seminar is for us to experience the way of sharing the knowledge that we have gained in lecture to the other classmates. We were required to present out our understanding and answer the question raised by classmates or lecture. Through this, I reliazed the importance of mobilizing the team power, as  you can go fast alone, but go far when you are in a team.

Conclusion:
QS is a profession. Every advice given by us is mandatory. Hence, do understand the whole situation and circumstances before making any recommendation to the client or other consultants.
